Introduction

Gorkha United Public School

Introduction

Gorkha United Public School, established in 2057 B.S., was initiated by ex-British Gurkhas and Singapore Police with a vision of providing holistic and quality education. Over the years, the institution has traversed a long journey, overcoming numerous challenges and evolving into a beacon of academic excellence. Rooted in resilience, discipline, and the pursuit of knowledge, the school now offers education up to Grade 12 and has expanded its academic horizon by introducing a B.Sc. Agriculture program. With over 1,400 students and a dedicated team of more than 150 teaching and non-teaching staff, the school continues to uphold its founding principles while embracing modern educational paradigms.

At Gorkha United Public School, education is not merely the transfer of knowledge but a transformative process that nurtures critical thinking. creativity, and moral tegrity. Inspired by constructivist pedagogy, we 45 believe that learning is an active, student-centred process where knowledge is co-constructed through experience and inquiry. Our approach aligns with the philosophies of John Dewey, who emphasized experiential learning, and Lev Vygotsky, who advocated the importance of social interaction in cognitive development.

As we continue to grow and adapt, Gorkha United Public School remains committed to educational excellence, innovation, and the holistic development of every learner. Our journey is one of resilience and aspiration, where each student is empowered to realize their potential and shape a better future.

Message from the Principal

Message from the Principal

As we approach the end of the Academic year 2081 and prepare ourselves embark on the new Academic year, I feel honored and privileged to be a part of this educational institution where every stakeholder is a learner and everyday is a golden opportunity for all of us to learn and discover.

Education is and always will be a challenging enterprise, but we are confident that together we can overcome every challenge and help our students in their educational journey preparing them for the journey beyond school. Moreover, we believe that a child's learning revolves around a strong partnership between home & school. The stronger the partnership is, the more children will benefit.

Here, at GUPS, our focus is on providing a supportive and enriching environment where every student can thrive. Our aim is to empower them, enabling them to develop the skills necessary to become kind, productive & contributing citizens in our school community and beyond

The world of competition leads to stress, anxiety and frustration many a times. The school has taken initiative in this direction by starting meditation every morning and conducting yoga camp to silence the negative thoughts and build a positive mode. Additionally, we are fortunate to enlist a team of committed & passionate staff who work with brain and brawn, who nurture our students on this fruitful journey.

On the whole the school is utterly committed to a continuous process of improvement for the benefits of the students.

I look forward to working with all our stakeholders to bring out the best in our student, providing them a roadmap to opportunity for a better life through developing their potential.

At last a sincere thanks to the Editorial team for making this 21st issue of the school Annual Newsletter.

GUPS is a 21st-century value-based progressive school where the students put their culture and values into practice. We are always committed to ensuring quality education to produce skilled and responsible citizens. Our sole focus is to inculcate the basic 21st-century skills (Creativity, Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, Leadership, Technology Skills and Problem-Solving Skills ) in the students and establish the school as a centre of educational excellence. To meet the need for a 21st-century education, we have envisioned a '5-Year Perspective Plan' (effective from 2079 -2084) which comprises:

1) Complete renovation of classrooms and student-friendly furnishing.

2) Air conditioning classrooms.

3) Innovative and effective pedagogy.

4) Activity Based Learning (ABL) and Project Based Learning (PBL).

5) Completely ICT-based teaching.

6) Giving children the freedom of bag-less education.

7) Making the best use of agriculture expertise in mass production and distribution.

The organization has already started a Bachelor's Study in Agriculture from the academic year 2075 B.S. affiliated with Agriculture & Forestry University, Rampur Chitwan under the project "Gorkha Polytechnic College & Research Centre. The major focus of the study program is to prepare students for careers in various agricultural-related fields, such as farming, agribusiness, agricultural engineering /research and many more. GPCRC believes that agricultural education can help students understand the importance of agriculture in our economy and society and play an important role in breaking out of poverty.

Academic Programme

KINDER GARTEN / Preschool (KG - I  to  KG – III) Early childhood is the most critical time for positive intervention. GUPS runs Kindergarten (a Preschool educational approach) for kids (aged 3-5 years). It is completely based on Montessori/ ECD philosophy (a teaching approach based on 'Learn by Fun/'Learning by Doing.'') The kids learn in a fun-filled manner, like, playing, singing, and practical activities such as drawing, and social interaction as part of the transition from home to school). We focus on four basic ideas: free self-expression, creativity, social participation and motor expression. The programme builds on the evidence in early childhood education that such early investments provide children with advantages that are amplified and reinforced over time.
